Accommodation for Walkers at Choughs Nest Hotel
Lynton offers a unique holiday experience for all, situated on the North Coast of Devon and is noted for its high sea cliffs, within the Exmoor National Park which is renowned for its breath taking natural beauty and unspoilt landscape. This is a perfect place to access the inner moor, visit historic houses, inspiring gardens, catch glimpses of the wild Exmoor ponies. Take a walk from Lynton along North Walk to the Valley of Rocks, home to Lynton's famous herd of wild goats and admire the dramatic rock formations in the valley. A unique water powered Victorian Cliff Railway offers an additional form of transport between Lynton and Lynmouth giving views over Lynmouth bay and towards the South Wales coast. Not to be missed is the walk from Lynmouth following the East Lyn river to Watersmeet. Lynton and Lynmouth are situated on the South West Coast Path, and many other long distance paths start (or finish) in the area making this a perfect walker's paradise.
The Choughs Nest is an outstanding 19th Century Victorian gentleman's summer residence, and retains many of its period features, and is cared for by its current owners the Hodges, who welcome you to this gorgeous and luxurious accommodation. Its spacious and tastefully decorated bedrooms boast expansive views across the surrounding area from the bay windows, and have those little creature comforts which make you feel at home from the moment you arrive. With the choice of a standard double or twin room, or for that special occasion a spacious superior room, which features either a four-poster, a comfy king-size or twin beds, sea views and en-suite facilities with both bath and shower (a luxury when you have been walking all day) you will be pleased you chose to stay here. After experiencing a restful nights sleep, a hearty and filling breakfast menu awaits you in the beautiful dining room with more outstanding views. All produce is locally sourced wherever possible and dietary requirements can be catered for with some notice given. If you are only here for one night whilst walking the South West Coast Path or one of the many other walks which intersect this area you may wish to book a few extra days to enjoy not only the local area but also the indulgence a stay here allows you. It also gives you another chance to sample the delicious fare on the dinner menu, or during colder periods a roaring fire in the guests lounge could tempt you to curl up with a cream tea or a drink before you have dinner, although the cream teas are sure to tempt you in any weather.
