How the South West Coast Path benefits from donations
The South West Coast Path Association is a registered charity. We help the coast path users get the best experience from it. We raise funds towards improvements and realignments of the path. Funds the Association put towards these improvements helps lever in extra money from the authorities. So our ‘private’ donation helps open the ‘public purse’ that would otherwise find projects to fund that already have some matched funding.
The Association has already given notable funding towards path realignments off dangerous roads. It has also funded simpler improvements making those sections of the coast path more enjoyable.
The South West Coast Path is a dynamic feature as, by its nature, it follows cliff tops which are prone to crumble. It crosses bridges that need repair. Its 630 miles will always need improvements to keep a continuous coastal route.
With your help and that of the Associations members we ensure the Path Managers are aware of the user’s needs. They in turn tell the Association what sections need help with funding. Together we help provide one of the best and longest National Trails in the UK.
