Walking Holidays in Exmoor National Park

Exmoor National Park is unique as a National Park as it combines both inland moor land and stunning coastal stretches. The wilderness of Exmoor, with its traditional ponies and red deer, is one of the last remaining true wildernesses of southern England.

The Moor land stretches for miles and it is interspersed with centuries old woodlands, rolling fields and deep valleys with streams that gush on their way through ‘Doone’ country and down to the spectacular coastline.

For those of you wanting a walking holiday away from the tourist trail then Exmoor is the place for you. Small hilltop farms or guesthouses snuggling in the valleys and hotels such as at Simonsbath steeped in history offer accommodation within this national park to suit all tastes and budgets.

Longer Walking Holidays on Exmoor

Several long distance trails cross Exmoor to Lynmouth and all take in this varied scenery. They include the 102 mile Two Moors Way which starts on the southern side of Dartmoor and finishes in Lynmouth. The Macmillan Way West which starts in Castle Cary, covering 102 miles to finish in Barnstaple. We also have The Samaritans way which starts in Bristol and covers 100 miles down to Lynton and then the slightly shorter 36 mile Coleridge way starting on the north side of the Quantock hills, crossing Exmoor and the Brendon hills to finish in Porlock , an ideal walk for a weekend of comfortable three day.
